FRAME THE WORLD

 

GENERALLY, IN MY PHOTO PROJECT, I ILLUSTRATE MY PERSPECTIVE OF PERCEIVING THIS WORLD. MY PROJECT ARE SEPARATE TO FOUR SECTIONS, WHICH ARE FOUR ALBUMS, AND I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE EACH ALBUM TO HELP YOU GUYS APPRECIATE.  

 

VAGUE: 

IN THIS ALBUM, I PUT 8 PICTURES SIMILARLY ABOUT THE LANDSCAPE I SEE ON THE ROAD. PEOPLE NORMALLY PICTURE WHAT THEY WANT CLEAR AND SOLID, BUT I DO NOT WANT TO DO THAT; SOME INDISTINGUISHABLE BOUNDARIES OF THE CHARACTERS WILL MAKE MY PROJECT UNIQUE AND HAVE A DIFFERENT KIND OF BEAUTY. WHEN YOU SEE MY PROJECT, YOU CAN TELL WHAT OBJECTS THEY ARE, BUT YOU CANNOT SEE THE CLEAR BOUNDARY OF THEM. THE VAGUE EFFECT IS MADE BY THE HIGH-SPEED MOVING CAR.



 

ADDICTION:

IN THIS ALBUM, I PUT 5 PICTURES THAT ARE ALL ABOUT SOMETHING ADDICTED FOR ME. 

1.     THE ART MAGAZINES: AS I DO RT DESIGNING STUFF, READING THE ART MAGAZINES IS PROBABLY THE FASTEST WAY TO BROADEN MY HORIZON AND TO GIVE ME INSPIRATION ABOUT DESIGNING, THERE ARE DEFINITELY SOME GREAT ELEMENTS I COULD FIND AND USE IN MY PROJECT. 

2.3  THE WEED AND CIGARETTE: THESE ARE THE TWO THINGS I WAS REALLY ADDICTED TO FOR RELAX. NICOTINE HELPS ME CALM DOWN AND CONCENTRATE, ALSO IT IS A GREAT ACCOMPANY OF MY DEEP THINKING.  WEED IS A LITTLE INAPPROPRIATE TO TALK ABOUT HERE BUT INDEED IT IS A GREAT WAY TO HELP ME GET INSPIRATION.

4.     THE GAMBLING CHIPS: GAMBLING IS ANOTHER THING PEOPLE ADDICT TO. AS FOR ME, I JUST PLAY THE      GAMBLING GAME WITH MY FRIENDS AND ENJOY THE WAY I WIN AND LOSE. 

5.     JAPANESE FOOD: FOOD IS GENERALLY PEOPLE’S BASIC NEED, BUT SOME DELICIOUS FOOD WILL MAKE PEOPLE ADDICTED. FOR ME JAPANESE FOOD IS ADDICTED.

                                     



LOVE: 

THERE ARE ONLY TWO PICTURES IN THIS ALBUM SINCE I DO NOT REALLY KNOW HOW TO ILLUSTRATE THROUGH MY WAY. THE FIRST ONE IS ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND COVER OUR TONGUE WITH THE CONDOM. THIS IS A METAPHOR OF SEX: THE MOST ROMANTIC WAY TO SHOW OUR LOVE. ANOTHER ONE IS THE LANGUAGE ON THE CAR’S DOOR, IT SAID “LOVE YOU, MOM!”. LANGUAGE IS THE MOST STRAIGHTFORWARD WAY FOR PEOPLE TO SHOW OUR LOVE. 

                                             

UNIQUE: 

IN THIS ALBUM, THE PICTURES ARE QUITE FULL OF VARIETIES. IT HAS THE LANDSCAPE PICTURE I TOOK BY THE RIVER, AT THE TREVER HALL, BY BRIGGS, BY THE LIBRARY, IN WRINSTON, AND IN MY DORM. MY PERSPECTIVE IS UNIQUE AND I NAME IT UNIQUE.

PULLING ELEMENTS FROM NIKE, ADIDAS AND PUMA, OWENS WAS ATTEMPTING TO—IN HIS WORDS—CREATE MONSTER TRUCKS FOR HIS FEET. THE RESULT WAS SOMEWHERE BETWEEN MOON BOOT AND HIGH-TOP, FEATURING AN ULTRA-EXTENDED TONG

PROJECT #2

  THE ROLE OF AUTHORSHIP IS THAT PEOPLE COULD TELL “HELL YEAH THAT’S BOWEN’S WORK!” BECAUSE THERE IS MY SOUL, MY STYLE, AND EVEN MY EXPERIENCE IN MY WORK. MY WORK EQUALS TO MY NAME IN SOME ASPECTS. OF COURSE, I CONSIDER MY WORK ORIGINAL, BECAUSE I EXERCISE MY AESTHETIC BY READING A HUGE VARIETY OF WORKS, WHICH ARE IN VERY DIFFERENT KINDS OF STYLES. THEN I  COME UP WITH MY OWN STUFF. WHEN THE AUDIENCE LOOK AT MY WORK, THEY COULD ONLY TELL OH THAT ARTWORK LOOKED A LITTLE BIT LIKE BLABLABLA’S WORK, BUT ALSO A LITTLE BIT LIKE DLADLADLA’S WORK. BUT FUCK NO, IT IS JUST L I K E, THAT STYLE IS BOWEN’S STYLE MY ORIGINAL SHIT.      EVERYONE WHO STARES AT MY WORK FOR MORE THAN 3 MINUTES COULD “TAKE POSSESSION” OF MY WORK AND DERIVE THEIR OWN MEANING FROM IT. I THINK WHEN THE AUDIENCE GET THE BEAUTY OF MY STUFF, AT THAT MOMENT, THEY TAKE POSSESSION OF IT. AND THEY COULD ALSO DERIVE THEIR OWN MEANING FROM IT BECAUSE PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES OF LIFE COULD DEFINITELY DERI VE DIFFERENT MEANIN

PROJECT #3

  “BEETHOVEN’S DEAFNESS DESIGNATES THE LACK WHEREIN RESIDES ALL SIGNIFICATION; IT APPEALS TO A MUSIC THAT IS NOT ABSTRACT OR INWARD, BUT THAT IS ENDOWED, IF ONE MAY PUT IT LIKE THIS, WITH A TANGIBLE INTELLIGIBILITY, WITH THE INTELLIGIBL E AS TANGIBLE.” BARTHES (P. 152)   BEETHOVEN’S MUSIC IS OFTEN SEEN AS A REFLECTION OF HIS INNERMOST THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS. HIS DEAFNESS, HOWEVER, FORCED HIM TO RELY ON HIS OTHER SENSES, PARTICULARLY HIS SENSE OF TOUCH AND VIBRATION, TO CREATE HIS MUSIC. HE WOULD OFTEN PLACE HIS HANDS ON THE PIANO OR ON THE WALLS OF HIS ROOM TO FEEL THE VIBRATIONS OF THE SOUND HE WAS CREATING. THIS ALLOWED HIM TO CREATE MUSIC THAT WAS NOT JUST AUDITORY, BUT THAT WAS ALSO TACTILE AND PHYSICAL.    AS FOR MY PROJECT, I SHARED MY PERSPECTIVE TO ENJOY THE BEAUTY IN OUR LIFE. IT COULD BE USED AS A TOOL HELP AUDIENCE FIND THE BEAUTY IN THEIR LIFE.
